Mastermyne Wins Major National Awards
Mastermyne has enjoyed outstanding success at two recent national mining awards ceremonies, receiving recognition for their innovative underground training facility Myne Start.
Named the Employer of Choice at the Australian Mining Prospect Awards held in Sydney on September 7, Mastermyne showed that it had successfully attracted, trained and retained staff through innovative and unique strategies that promote the company as an employer of choice
At the more recent Mining Industry Skills Centre Training Awards held in Brisbane on September 16, Mastermyne received the Innovation award and was recognised for pushing the boundaries using cutting-edge processes and practices in workforce planning and development.
Myne Start Project Manager, Brenda Witt attended both award ceremonies and accepted the prestigious awards on Mastermyne’s behalf.
Managing Director Tony Caruso said, “It’s a credit to each Mastermyne staff member involved in the Myne Start project that we can deliver industry leading solutions and gain this recognition against some much bigger companies with much bigger budgets. What is especially pleasing about the training facility is that we have come up with an idea that is addressing a massive issue in the industry, being the skills shortage.”
Since being officially opened just shy of a year ago the Myne Start facility has delivered 100 people into the Mastermyne workforce.
The facility was one of the first of its kind and provides specialised underground training to participants in a visually and physically real environment. In a four week training program, participants complete in-depth training with a focus of safety requirements to make them more productive sooner.
Mastermyne currently employs 900 staff with this figure set to reach 1000 before the end of the year.
