New Coaltrams Arrive in Mackay
Mastermyne recently added two Coaltram utility loaders, manufactured by Diversified Mining Services, to our fleet. Following is the article as reported in the Business Weekly section of the Mackay Daily Mercury:-
Workhorses roar west Mastermyne adds new versatile loaders to its Bowen Basin mining operations
Meet the latest additions to the Mastermyne team: they’re the newest variety of loaders that can be found scooting around Bowen Basin mines. Manufactured by Diversified Mining Services, the two Atlas Copco Coaltram utility vehicles were handed over to the Mackay -based company last week.
Mastermyne managing director Tony Caruso described the vehicles as the workhorses used to get in and out of the mines. Forks for carrying equipment around, buckets for moving earth, man baskets and drilling rigs could be attached to them, he said. “The Coaltrams are a new variety of loader made by the DMS Group,” Mr Caruso said. “These will be the second
two (of these) machines in Queensland. “We’re looking forward to getting them into our operations.”
DMS said the first two Coaltrams in Queensland were sold to BMA for use at its Crinum underground mine, 50km north-east of Emerald, in August. DMS underground Coaltram general manager Craig Anderson welcomed Mastermyne’s decision to use the vehicles, which he believed would grow in popularity. “The Queensland and New South Wales coal industries have really embraced these vehicles and the more we put into the market the more demand we are receiving,” Mr Anderson said. “We are well advanced with our plan to double our production capacity over the next 18 months to satisfy customer demand.” Mr Anderson said customer feedback had seen further product development and improvements adding to the already existing competitive advantage of the Atlas Copco Coaltram. “With a Tier 3 electric controlled engine and the onboard
MONEx management system, the Coaltram offers significant advantages for future vehicle tracking and uploading of
operational critical data to be integrated automatically into the existing mine site management systems.”
Mastermyne fleet manager Beau Brookes said the Coaltrams were well matched to the company’s site conditions and operational requirements. “The fact they are made locally gives us added confidence that they will add long-term value to our business,” Mr Brookes said.
